New York Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are made of…

Life here in New York has been nothing short of Amazing! Though I have had my share of moments when I was homesick, missing my friends and mad at the living cost of the city, overall the stay has been great.

Upon arriving I attended my very first fashion show: the Oscar De La Renta show. It was mind-blowing to actually sit amongst so many industry people. Life as an intern gets earlier everyday from checking in and out garments to running half way around Manhattan with pounds of garment bags trying to get to an appointment on time. Oh yeah! And there are so many different events dedicated to Fashionistas. Things from designers who make store appearances to the annual Fashion Night Out extravaganza.

The opportunities here are endless but you have to be able to chase them.

Outside of the fashion, New York has been hilarious from the naked cowgirl to the rude bums. My first time in Time Square was crazy. I saw The Naked Cowgirl, an old woman who just stands on the sidewalk showing off her goodies to make tourist laugh. Just yesterday I saw this old guy dressed like Carmen Miranda walking through Macy’s.

The bums are hilariously rude and yesterday one ran off with my sweater. Lets not forget the gangster rats who are not afraid to get on the platform in the subway. Just the other day my friend saw one with warts!

The talent in this city is massive. The musicians who make their living by sitting in the subway and filling New Yorkers’ ears with music are just phenomenal.

Its been an amazing experience hanging out with my friends experiencing life, enjoying great music and food.  The restaurants are great!  From A Little Piece of Italy to Japanese Sushi- this city has everything. In a sense it reminds me of home; so many ethnicities, a city bigger than white and black, with a tremendous amount of opportunities– It’s something here for everyone. This city is full of surprises and I am so happy to make life-long memories here.
